Dua — 3rd Moharram (Siege Begins)

Allāhumma inna hādhal-yawma waṣalat fīhi juyūshud-ḍalāli waẓ-ẓulmi ilā Karbalāʾ Wa ḍarabat ḥiṣārahā ʿalā mawlānā l-imāmi l-Ḥusayni wa ahlihī wa aṣḥābih Wa kānal-imāmu wasṭahum shāmikhan kaṭ-ṭawdi lā tahuzzzuhu l-aʿāṣīr Allāhumma innal-imāma l-Ḥusayna lam yazidhu kathrata l-aʿdāʾi illā thabātā Wa lam tazidhu ẓulumātuz-ẓulmi illā nūran wa yaqīnā ʿAllamanā rabbanā anna l-ʿizzata laysat fil-aʿdād Wa innamā hiya fir-rabṭi billāhi wat-thubūti ʿalā l-ḥaqq Allāhumma idhā aḥāṭa binaz-ẓālimūna wa aṭbaqat ʿalaynā sh-shadāʾid Fajʿalnā minat-thābitīnal-ladhīna lā tuzaʿziʿuhumul-ahwāl Wa dhakkirnā bi-imāminā l-Ḥusayni wa bi-ṣabrihi l-ladhī aḍāʾat-tārīkh Allāhumma kamākhtāra l-Ḥusaynu l-ḥaqqa ʿalā l-baqāʾ Farzuqnā shajāʿata ikhtiyāri l-ḥaqqi fī mawāṭini ḍ-ḍaʿfi wal-jubn Wa ṣalli ʿalā Muḥammadin wa āli Muḥammadin yā rabbal-ʿālamīn

O Allah, today is the day the armies of error and oppression arrived at Karbala, and laid siege around our master Imam Husain, his family, and companions. And the Imam stood among them, lofty as a mountain that storms cannot shake. O Allah, the greater the number of enemies, the more steadfast Husain became; and the darker the oppression, the brighter his light and certainty grew. Our Lord taught us that honor does not lie in numbers — but in connection with Allah and in standing firm upon truth. O Allah, when oppressors close in around us and trials press upon us, make us among the steadfast whom no terror can shake. And remind us of our Imam Husain and of his patience that illuminated all of history. O Allah, as Husain chose truth over survival, grant us the courage to choose truth in our moments of weakness and fear. And bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, O Lord of the Worlds.
