Dua — Tasua (9th Moharram, Eve of Ashura)
9th Moharram (Tasua) — the night before Ashura, when Imam Husain (AS) asked Yazid's army for one final night to spend in prayer
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَيْكَ بِمُحَبَّةِ أَوْلِيَائِكَ وَخِيَرَتِكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ الطَّيِّبِينَ الطَّاهِرِينَ وَبِالْبَرَاءَةِ مِنْ أَعْدَائِهِمْ اللَّهُمَّ هَذِهِ لَيْلَةُ التَّاسِعِ مِنَ الْمُحَرَّمِ اللَّيْلَةُ الَّتِي أَمْضَاهَا مَوْلاَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ وَأَهْلُهُ وَأَصْحَابُهُ فِي الصَّلاَةِ وَالذِّكْرِ وَالتِّلاَوَةِ وَالدُّعَاءِ يَا إِلَهِي إِنَّ الْحُسَيْنَ عَلِمَ أَنَّ الْغَدَ هُوَ آخِرُ يَوْمٍ مِنْ أَيَّامِ حَيَاتِهِ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَمَعَ ذَلِكَ كَانَتْ لَيْلَتُهُ لَيْلَةَ إِقْبَالٍ عَلَيْكَ وَتَضَرُّعٍ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنَا مِنَ الَّذِينَ يُحَبِّبُونَ الصَّلاَةَ وَالذِّكْرَ كَمَا أَحَبَّهَا الْحُسَيْنُ وَلاَ تَجْعَلْنَا مِنَ الْغَافِلِينَ وَالنَّاسِينَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَبْرَأُ إِلَيْكَ مِمَّنْ ظَلَمَ الْحُسَيْنَ وَأَهْلَ بَيْتِهِ وَنَتَوَلَّى مَوْلاَنَا الْحُسَيْنَ وَأَنْصَارَهُ الشُّهَدَاءَ اللَّهُمَّ ثَبِّتْ فِي قُلُوبِنَا حُبَّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَاحْشُرْنَا مَعَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ
Allāhumma innā nataqarrabu ilayka bi-muḥabbati awliyāʾika wa khiyaratika min khalqika Muḥammadin wa ālihi ṭ-ṭayyibīnaṭ-ṭāhirīn, wa bil-barāʾati min aʿdāʾihim Allāhumma hādhihi laylatut-tāsiʿi minal-muḥarram Al-laylatul-latī amḍāhā mawlānā al-Ḥusaynu ʿalayhi as-salām Wa ahluhu wa aṣḥābuhu fiṣ-ṣalāti wadh-dhikri wat-tilāwati wad-duʿāʾ Yā ilāhī, innal-Ḥusayna ʿalima annal-ghada huwa ākhiru yawmin min ayyāmi ḥayātihī fid-dunyā Wa maʿa dhālika kānat laylatuhu laylata iqbālin ʿalayka wa taḍarruʿin bayna yadayk Allāhumma ijʿalnā minalladhīna yuḥabbibūnaṣ-ṣalāta wadh-dhikra kamā aḥabbahā al-Ḥusayn Wa lā tajʿalnā minal-ghāfilīna wan-nāsīn Allāhumma innā nabraʾu ilayka mimman ẓalama al-Ḥusayna wa ahla baytih Wa natawallā mawlānā al-Ḥusayna wa anṣārahush-shuhadāʾ Allāhumma thabbit fī qulūbinā ḥubba Muḥammadin wa āli Muḥammad Waḥshurnā maʿa Muḥammadin wa ālihī yawmal-qiyāmah Bi-raḥmatika yā arḥamar-rāḥimīn
O Allah, we draw near to You through our love for Your friends and the best of Your creation — Muhammad and his pure and purified family — and through our rejection of their enemies. O Allah, this is the night of the ninth of Moharram — the night that our master Husain (AS) spent along with his family and companions in prayer, dhikr, Quran recitation, and supplication. O my God, Husain knew that tomorrow would be the last day of his earthly life — and yet his night was a night of turning toward You and of humble supplication before You. O Allah, make us among those who love salah and remembrance as Husain loved them, and do not make us among the heedless and forgetful. O Allah, we declare before You our disavowal of those who wronged Husain and his Ahl al-Bayt, and we declare our love for our master Husain and his martyred companions. O Allah, fix in our hearts the love of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and resurrect us with Muhammad and his family on the Day of Judgment. By Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
