Niyyat for Eid al-Fitr Namaaz

نِيَّةُ صَلَاةِ عِيدِ الفِطر

Recited at the start of the Eid al-Fitr prayer on 1 Shawwal, which marks the completion of the Ramadan fast. The Eid prayer is wajib (obligatory) for the community and is led by the Dai or his appointed representative. Two forms: for the ma'moom (follower behind the imam) and for the imam (leader).

لِلمَأمُوم: أُصَلِّي صَلَاةَ عِيدِ الفِطرِ رَكعَتَينِ فَرضًا مُؤتَمًّا بِالإِمَامِ لِلَّهِ تَعَالَى اللَّهُ أَكبَر لِلإِمَام: أُصَلِّي صَلَاةَ عِيدِ الفِطرِ رَكعَتَينِ فَرضًا إِمَامًا لِلَّهِ تَعَالَى اللَّهُ أَكبَر

Transliteration

Lil-ma'moom: Uṣallī ṣalāta 'Īdil-fiṭri rak'atayni farḍan mu'tamman bil-imāmi lillāhi ta'ālā. Allāhu akbar. Lil-imām: Uṣallī ṣalāta 'Īdil-fiṭri rak'atayni farḍan imāman lillāhi ta'ālā. Allāhu akbar.

English

For the follower: I intend to pray the Eid al-Fitr prayer, two rak'ats, obligatory, following the imam, for the sake of Allah the Most High. Allah is the Greatest. For the imam: I intend to pray the Eid al-Fitr prayer, two rak'ats, obligatory, as imam, for the sake of Allah the Most High. Allah is the Greatest.
